Our 11th Annual City of Presidents Fall Pub Crawl will be Saturday, October 6. Join us as we head back to our roots and start all over again at the pub that got us started.
This year we kick off at The Hofbrau, the longtime Adams Shore pub where some of us boys innocently gathered to start an autumnal jaunt to some Quincy pubs back in 1997. I think we were 11 years younger back then too.
Start:
The Hofbrau
400 Sea Street, Quincy
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Route:
West on Sea Street to Grumpy White's and the Imperial Terrace, a walk up to Cagney's at Washington and Elm streets. Then we'll hit Quincy's traditional Irish Pubs on Hancock Street and our annual gauntlet along the back streets of Cottage Ave and Chestnut Street.
Pubs we'll visit include:
The Hofbrau
Grumpy White's
Imperial Terrace
Cagney's
The Holy Ground
The Half Door
Granite Rail
Tully's
Sully's
Presidential Pub
Black Water Tavern
MBTA bus options from Quincy Center Station:
It will be your pleasure to take advantage of Quincy's most frequent schedule for MBTA surface transportation.
(Oh yeah, we're going back to the roots... Riding the Two-Fourteen!!!)
Route 214: Germantown
Buses Leave Quincy Center T at 3:00, 3:20, 3:40, 4:00, 4:20, 4:40
Route 216: Houghs Neck
Buses Leave Quincy Center T at 3:10, 3:30, 3:50, 4:10, 4:30, 4:50
The bus stops at 405 Sea Street, one short stop past the intersection of Sea & Moffet streets. You'll see an ice cream shop on your right, The Hofbrau is on your left.
If you are coming late, that same bus will also pass Grumpy White's and the Imperial Terrace - both on your right. It's not a long ride, so keep your eyes peeled. Once you pass the police station and cemetery, it won't be much further.
Oh yes, no driving. Only crawling.
Food:
We'll aim to catch a bite again at Cagney's, but many of the Quincy Center joints have good pub menus if you find you get the beer munchies.
Costs:
None, other than your own tab or contribution to the kitty. Our kitty keeps life easy for our bartenders, so we encourage you to participate. If you do, we'll collect around $30 toward the kitty for each crawler at The Hofbrau.
Did we forget someone?
Have a friend not included above? Please forward this information to them...
Late on Saturday, and want to know where we are?
Call or text message either one of us on our cell phones. If the jukebox doesn't have any Black Sabbath, we'll probably answer.
